Questions
Good to know.
How is this different from compressing?
Resizing changes the number of pixels: the width and height. Compressing keeps the dimensions and makes the file smaller. Smaller dimensions usually make the file smaller too.
Can I make an image bigger?
Yes, with “Allow enlarging”, but it won’t get sharper. No new detail is created, so enlarged images look softer.
Is transparency kept?
Yes, when you save as PNG or WebP. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose.
Is anything uploaded or kept?
No. The image is resized in your browser and the result has no EXIF, GPS or camera data.
Curious what your files reveal?
Metvoro can also read the hidden metadata in photos, PDFs and Office files and explain it in plain language.
